Why iA?
Information architecture is the art of analyzing, structuring and building data into a simple form that can be easily recognized, understood and remembered. Our job is to make information out of data.
Constructing buildings with bricks has many similarities to constructing buildings made out of data. Yet there are differences: unlike traditional architecture, information architecture is not a linear process. Houses are built from bottom to top and then from within. Websites, on the other hand, are built in a circular process.
At iA, business analysts, designers and coders are split into specialized teams, working from Zurich (planning), Tokyo (design) and Berlin (code). Cultivating different skills in different offices. What holds us together is a strong project management and our common understanding, that—no matter who plans, designs or codes—at iA everyone is an information architect.
